I'd like to show/tell him how proud of him I am. He's been thru some very rough times (divorce, moving a lot, death of loved ones, mental and physical abuse, not from me of course!!) and I want to tell him how well he's turned out after all he went thru!!! He's the 1st one in family to go to college!Words of encouragment/advice for son graduating that's been thru hell?
Hey Bigmama - congratulations to your son (and to you)! I think a simple sit down between the two of you either at home or over a dinner at some restaurant should accomplish your goal. If it is at home - have some coffee and use the morning or evening (your choice) when no one is on the ';rush'; or the ';go';. If you go to some restaurant an evening where the crowds won't show up, i.e. choose a Mon-Wed as opposed to a Fri-Sun.
Either way a simple momento that allows him to keep something to remember the conversation by - something that will last and be a special memory for him (these things do not have to cost a lot or be big ticket items - just something lasting - you choose as you know your son best and his likes or dislikes - consider even taking a camera to have the waiter or someone take a photo of the two of you, then YOU keep that photo in a special place to give to him after he graduates!).
Life can deal some hard blows to good people - glad to see we still have people that can rise above the garbage it can bring. A mere suggestion - as you congratulate him on his accomplishments do not linger too much on what he has been through but focus your conversation on him, his goals, how proud you are of him, and what the world will offer him as he leaves college later - tell him to take a couple of Spring Vacations with friends as well.
Job well done Mom! In the past things were out of your control - so NO BEAT UP ON ONESELF ALLOWED FOR YOU EITHER! Let him bring home his laundry from time to time, and ask him to share his most important papers with you - he might think this is corny now - but that little toddler you once held is the young man on his road.
Speaking from a little experience in this matter.
Best of luck to you and your boy!Words of encouragment/advice for son graduating that's been thru hell?
Let him know that the trials and tribulations which he had to surpass all happened to make him the strong man that he has become. Sometimes we have to hit bumpy roads to remind us that there are good times ahead of us so keep on riding through the bumpy roads... You can't get stuck cuz you'll never get to where you must go...
First to go to college! Hats off to him!!!!! You should be proud!!! : )
buy him a really nice journal as a gift and write how you feel in it. He can keep it forever and remember the rough times and how he made it so far. If he feels up to it he can express himself in it when he feels ready!
* Maybe stick a gift card in it to his favorite store as well!

I am getting my belly button pierced next week. Any advice/words of wisdom? I'll take the most advice I can.
Please only answer if you have experienced getting yours done. I don't want people freaking me out by saying, ';I think it hurts';. Thanks everyone!I am getting my belly button pierced next week. Any advice/words of wisdom? I'll take the most advice I can.
ok i just got mine pierced a few months ago..im terrified of needles and dont even have my ears pierced but my friend took me on a whim to get over my fear and because i think it looks cute. anyways i was pretty scared going into in and basically they clean your belly they draw a dot where they are going to pierce it then you lay down on reclined chair they take forceps and squeeze it tight ...youll feel presure and then they pierce it... i never saw the needle because i was already shaking and rembling before i got there but my friend came in with me and he held my hand the whole time..so i suggest bringing a friend in. after it might be a little red and tender , make sure you eat before you go in so your blood sugar doesnt drop and you eat a few hours after...its gunna hurt a little but not so bad just be careful...sitting down and getting into cars willl be a little awkward i felt like a pregnant woman who was about to pop for the first week...if youre a stomach sleeeper you will have to wait a week or so before you can, avoid swimming for a few weeks and put a bandaid on it...wash it with unscented soap 3 times a day and 3 times a day with sea salt and water on a qtip...it takes 4-6 months before you can change the ring.... i know thats a lot of info but i totally didnt know what to expect going into it...right after i got it done i was in some pain but im a baby but im soo glad i got it done...i love it, best of luck with the modification...hope i helped ease your fearsI am getting my belly button pierced next week. To be honest, it is a little painful but the wait/anticipation is scarier than the actual piercing. Do your best not to think about it beforehand, I guarantee that worrying will make it seem so much worse.
After you get it pierced, buy some spray-on Bactine or other antibiotic spray. It can easily get infected, especially in the first week or two, so you want to spray it often. When I had mine done, I put neosporin all over it and then covered the area with one of those big band-aids and that worked wonderfully. Also, make sure to keep your hands away from it in the first week.
Also, don't make any plans that involve any walking, running or other athletic things for the first week or two. Your stomach will be sore and you will not want to do anything athletic as that makes it worse. Take some motrin for the swelling and the soreness.
All in all, the first two weeks can be a little rough after you get it pierced, but after that you will have a beautiful piece of jewelry. I absolutely love mine and I'm so glad that I got it done. It is worth the trouble.
Actually, it isn't that bad. Just lay down and don't watch it being done. I think that my cartilage ear piercing was alot worse than my belly button. Taking care of it was pretty easy, too. Just keep it clean so it doesn't get infected. Good luck!
I had my belly button pierced when I was a teenager. The best advice is: Dont share belly button rings with your friends!!!!! Which includes practicing very good hygiene. When switching out rings, always soak them in peroxide for a few minutes.beauty advice

Possible Herpes 2 infection on mouth. Any advice, words of wisdom?
Sigh. I met a man through an online dating site and we seemed to hit it off... after our third date, where we'd done quite a bit of kissing, I broke out 4 days later with two of the biggest blisters I'd ever had on my upper lip.
Some unrelated drama ensued and we are no longer involved, however, he informed me via email this evening that shortly before he was involved with me, he had become ';very intimate'; with a woman who was an HSV 2 carrier. He then said he had some strange, perhaps symptomatic blisters, but not in the usual place (didn't say where, but I'm thinking might've been on his face or perhaps torso).
Internet research says I will likely never have another outbreak once this one is gone, since HSV 2 doesn't stick well to the oral site. And I have a very strong immune system. Anyone with advice, words of wisdom? I intend to go to the department of heath tomorrow to see about diagnosis (I have no health insurance at this time).Possible Herpes 2 infection on mouth. Sorry to hear that you may have caught Herpes. First thing to do is confirm that this is what you actually have. Contact your government sexual health/family planning clinic. They will take a swab of the blisters and let you know if this is what you have. HSV1 and HSV2 can be interchangable in location. eg HSV1 can be on the genitals and HSV2 can be on/around the mouth.
The best place to find reliable information is http://www.thefacts.com.au
Things to avoid are:: stress, letting yourself get rundown, too much sunlight, chocolate, alchohol and finally, try not to worry too much!
The main thing to remember is to take care of yourself. If you do have herpes, it is NOT the end of the world! Good luck with the test.
Hi there, you are absoultely right aobut it probably never reoccuring again on your mouth.
My partner has hsv2 and as of yet i have not had a break out from kissing him.
Apart from needing the occasional medication to help reslove the symptoms of HSV1/2, it really has no health implications at all. So don't worry too much about not having health insurance.
Take care.
well its most likely that he had HSV2 on his mouth or face because its kind of rare to have herpes on the torso or chest.
he should have told u that he has herpes in the first place. maybe he didn't know what he had was herpes. or was in denial of it being sometihng else (which many people are).
just because the blisters are gone does not mean that the virus itself is gone it will be dormant in your system. any thing could trigger it to break out again.
if u still have the out break it will be easier to test for. if u do not have enough herpes anti-bodies in your blood u may get a few false positives or negatives. u may need to be tested again in a 4-6 months time because symptoms and anti-bodies can take time to build up in your system.
there is a big negative stigma out there when it comes to herpes try to stay strong against it. always let any future partners know that u have herpes before u decide to get serious with them.
i have HSV1 (oral herpes) on my mouth and genitals both from my boy friends healing cold sore i also have HSV2 but just genitally.

Can anyone advice me on the wording of a letter to my bank?
I was over drawn and after my next monies went in, paying all but 拢10 off. I asked them to close my account (which I realise they cant do owing to the 拢10) but now each month the amount is going up by 拢20.. how on earth do I write the letter to the bank? I have also been on the dole since the over draw happened and really cant afford for it to continue happening each month. Can anyone advice me on the wording of a letter to my bank?
I would go %26amp; see your bank and explain the situation to them. Ask them to freeze the balance %26amp; offer them a payment plan to clear the balance the bank will like you making the offer. All you have to do is communicate I am sure they will understand. Good luck %26amp; hope it goes well! Can anyone advice me on the wording of a letter to my bank?
Firstly, how many months has this gone on for? I think it would be a good idea if you went to your local citizens advice centre. They would be able to help you draft a letter and also help you get on top of your finances. You should be able to find the number in your phone book.
I hope this is of some help albeit minor. Good luck!
Dear Sir,
I recently asked you to close my account but was advised that this was not possible as I was 拢10 overdrawn.
As I had recently lost my job and rely on jobseekers allowance it has been difficult for me to raise the 拢10 to pay in and clear the overdraft.
It has now come to my attantion that the account is 拢XX overdrawn due to Bank charges being applied.
I appreciate that charges are made when customers go overdrawn without prior arrangement but I find it excessive that these charges are being levied every month to an account which i am no longer using and had every intention of closing.
Due to my current financial situation the best I can offer is to repay the original 拢10 I was overdrawn and and an additional 拢5 to cover the cost of the banks administration in this matter.
I would be most gratfeul if you would give this carful consideration and advise me of your decision at your earliest convenience as i am very distressed that the situation may worsen.
How about that. Worth a try. You may obviously want to tweak it a bit.
ask them for an overdraft then draw everything out to the full then simply keep the money and dont pay a penny back.

I need relationship advice/ words of wisdom. From eighteen year olds and up only please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I've been dating my fiance since I was thirteen (now I'm eighteen) and lately I just can't shake the thought about how much our relationship has changed. It's not that it's bad, it's just that it's different. I keep thinking about how absolutely and purely happy we were back in 2003 and how things are different now. Like I said, things aren't bad but, when we first met, each kiss and hug was so special, each phone conversation was so exciting, and each moment was so treasured. Now everything's just so.. normal? Our kisses aren't bad, our hugs aren't bad, and our phone conversations aren't bad either it's just that it bothers me that it's not so exciting now. Is this just because we've been together for so long? Is this normal for every long long term relationship? Is there any way that I can re - spark the magic for us? I miss the old days and it bothers me that they are gone because it seems like they just happened yesterday. I know that new relationship only seem so exciting because you are still learning the person but is there any way to make things just as special as they used to be even though we know virtually EVERYTHING about each other already?I need relationship advice/ words of wisdom. From eighteen year olds and up only please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I pretty much have been in your situation before. I have only dated one person my entire life! Funny thing is we are going to get married! We met as Juniors in high school and it immediately seemed perfect! Like you said each kiss and hug was just like a firework show! Now that time has passed little things too have passed. I no longer keep count of every single kiss and I no longer get shy in front of him when we are together. Things have changed since we have gotten to know each other, but in my opinion it is for the better. Every time I look in his eyes I still get butterflies and we have amazing times together! There are some things I miss about before, but I am content where i am! I think that you need to look into your relationship. If you think that this she is the one you want to marry then you need to stay with her. If not then look around. There are plenty of people! :) I suggest that if you want to stay with her then you realize what a blessing it is that things have changed a little. Now you both understand each other better, you both have matured, and you both love each other enough to have lasted this long! That is something to be proud of!I need relationship advice/ words of wisdom. From eighteen year olds and up only please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Until you turn 30 you realize the kind of person you want to marry, don't try to lock yourself into your childhood love life as this is only part of things you did when you were young and stupi,
Do you have a toddler or one in preschool?
I am 30 years old and have had my fair share of relationships, good and bad.
You are very young. You will keep changing the rest of your life, but particularly until your mid 20s. Trust me, you will be a very different person at 21 and again at 25. I seriously doubt that this relationship will last forever. That is not necessarily a bad thing. I suggest dating around and playing the field while you are young, rather than getting married young and then living to regret it and wondering what you are missing out on.
some people like the ease of a relationship as they get older.. but you're only 18 so its tough because you are still very young (regarding lifelong partners/marriage)
of course there are ways to spice things up.. surprise him with a weekend away, leave little notes for him, go on 'dates' again if you don't still do that - maybe revisit some of the places you used to go to when you were younger.
talk to him - see what he thinks
every relationship will lose that shiny, special, new feeling because after awhile, it's not new anymore. there's nothing you can do to change that but that doesn't mean you can't still have some spark or have fun. be open to each other's ideas and don't be afraid to communicate. if you think you're getting stuck in a rut, speak up because he can't read your mind:) he might feel the same way but could be afraid of speaking up himself or sometimes, guys are just dense about those things lol. but, if you're meant to be, you'll enjoy doing normal things and it will only get better. but that doesn't mean you won't have hard times either because all relationships have ups and downs, some bigger than others. you have to be willing to work on it.
one thing i can say for sure though is i changed immensely from 18 to 21 to 25 and there's no way i could have known at 18 what i wanted by the time i was 25. i would strongly advise to have a longer engagement. there's a lot of growing up to do and you'll be surprised in a year or two or five what you've learned and what you still have to learn. good luck! the only way you can do this is by living:)
New things are always exciting, and just as predictably, as you get used to them they become less exciting. That doesn't mean the old and familiar should be discarded. Mature love is a gift. It is what sticks through the ups and downs, sicknesses, and tragedies. You can be yourself without fear of rejection. You have the stability to create a home.
You CAN have those sparks, but they will be different and you have to work a little harder. Every healthy long-term marriage I know of still has times when one partner looks at the other and feels such overwhelming love that it takes his/her breath away. It just doesn't happen all the time. Thank goodness, I say! How would we accomplish anything? Think back to those early times. Do you remember how hard it was to concentrate on anything except your new-found love? Mature love allows you to have it all!
I think that's the path most relationships go down, although it doesn't need to be that way. If you see your fiance every day, try taking a few days off- take a trip for a few days- because, really, distance makes the heart grow fonder. If you don't see your fiance everyday, or you think that maybe the normal everyday activities are bringing you two down, go on a vacation with your fiance- get away from it all- somewhere relaxing, but somewhere you can find something exciting to do- something new to learn- skiing, skydiving, snorkeling, whatever.
that is pretty much how relationships go ... that spark is usually rekindled if one of you goes away for a weekend, but complacency is quite normal ...
to respark, you both need to make an effort ... meet each other for a date at a nice new restaurant and don't get ready together ... I shower and primp in the gym locker-room sometimes ... you can also try new things in the bedroom (if your relationship is at that level) ...
relationships will also change as you mature and experience new things in life ... you each will adapt to the world around you in the way that is most fitting for your personalities ... newness is always exciting, but newness wears off ... stability and trust should be cherished ...
