Does this finally prove that advice in religion's ';holy books'; are only the words of the person quoting them?

Do you think I have finally PROVEN beyone a doubt that the';Words of God'; are actually those of the religious?

I know that sounds a bit cryptic, but earlier, I asked if it was religiously permisible to smoke while you pray, and I was STUNG by ';NO' answers http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;… THEN I asked it it was religiously permissible to pray while having a smoke, and magically the never changing and unerring bible changed to read ';YES'; !http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

NONBELIEVERS - Don't you think this answers the question of ';who wrote the bible?'; Any desired interpretation at all can be twisted our of the ';holy scrolls'; .. and in the end we see that it is the word and opinion of the READER, not of the ';enlightened'; Holy authors?

Oh, I am not a smoker, this was just for ';the test'Does this finally prove that advice in religion's ';holy books'; are only the words of the person quoting them?
Yes. This is an excellent point. You make many good points. There is an end to their hypocrisy, a bitter sweet end, its called ashes to ashes dust to dust.

What amuses me most is Joan of Arc, once a heretic, then a saint.

And to your premise, yes, they will do this, go in and find anything that backs up what they are feeling. Example is alcohol. Jesus makes wine, but in the old testement there is a passage in like numbers 20 where it says dont imbibe.

Its all a fairy tale, you know, religion was the junk science of the Before Christian Era.Does this finally prove that advice in religion's ';holy books'; are only the words of the person quoting them?
I didn't see either of your earlier questions... but this is what I think. I am a believer in God/Yeshua and I study His Word. You cannot take the Bible verse by verse. It must be taken as a whole and that takes years of study. You can quote a verse here and a verse there and like you said twist it into just about anything. This is something the one that knows the scriptures probably better than anyone other than the Author does all the time: Satan.

The vast majority of people who claim to be Christians haven't got a clue what's in the Bible... That is the reason for the inconsistency of the answers you got.

Even though it was just a ';test'; I'd like to answer both your previous questions; yes and yes. A Christian should strive to be in a ';continuous'; state of prayer. You can pray while doing anything you would do while talking to your earthly father. Abba God is my Father and that's how I talk to Him...
we already know people wrote the bible! it was inspired by God!!!!!!!!! please get educated before criticising
Did you really need this test to come to that conclusion? You could have just read a few chapters.
Excellent work... Love your approach !

Help! words of comfort pls dumped fri via text im shocked stunned cant even cry advice to move on pls?

msg came out of blue no fight argument disagreements ever. text said DO NOT CALL ME - DO NOT TEXT ME i was so surprised i did reply w one msg Huh what happened? sat get email - not a call - asking me to let him know if all ok as had rcvd 200 txt messages and over 45 calls fr me fri before he sent text - neither of which is true, something i have never done. nothing fr him today. i dont have the heart to respond to the email as im so confused. this was a committed relationship of 8 mos talking about getting engaged and married in 08. now this outright lie about the msgs and calls followed by wishy washy email. i realize he cares little about me to do something so cruel as breaking up w me via text instead of face to face. then the silly excuse. know im better off wo him but im my heart is broken - cant sleep eat. i was so wrong about him he lied wasnt the person i thght. pls advice how to move on...Help! words of comfort pls dumped fri via text im shocked stunned cant even cry advice to move on pls?
date me!!!!Help! words of comfort pls dumped fri via text im shocked stunned cant even cry advice to move on pls?
Someone who dumps another via a written message is someone you are well rid of. Thank your lucky stars you found out in time. You caught a break.
Not to worry, maybe he thought things were going too fast? But its not your fault and maybe he isnt the one for you. I think that the best advice for moving on is to just let it die (as quickly, or slowley as it takes) and I think that everyday will get that little bit easier for you! You will get over it, dont worry. Although, its a good idea to talk to a friend or something, you can tell them all the details and they wont judge you like people on the net that dont even know you! I hope you feel better :)
just hang out with frends they can help with almost anything so then you will get back into the game slowly and your frends will also mend your broken heart
im so sorry! i know this must be incredibly hard, but you sound like a very nice person who has no trouble opening your heart to love. (i know that sounds cheesy, but its really a good quality) it just sounds like he was too scared to give you a good reason for getting out of the relationship. hes not worth the heartache, someday youll find someone who will make you happier than he ever could.
Just try to go on with life. If you feel like crying.. go ahead and cry. Let it all out. Call your best friend and have a heart to heart with her. Grab your girls and have a girls day/night out. It may seem like you'll never get over it now.. but eventually you will. I experienced something like this... was dating this guy for a year and 4 months... broke up via text. I didn't think i would ever have gotten over it... but i did. Life's too short to dwell on things like this.... put a smile on and keep living your life to the fullest.
You just have to look at it as you deserve better.

And realize that your relationship was not what you thought it was.

It's better to learn that now, rather than later.

It's still going to take time to deal with it because it's a loss. And that takes grieving time.

Whenever you get upset and sad, you have to remind yourself that you didn't have what you thought it was.

Everything happens for a reason, and maybe this was your reason, because you deserve better.

Something better will come your way.

    Good luck
WOW! Well, in this day %26amp; age we more or less have all of the tools at our disposal to NEVER actually talk to a person. I have to wonder - what the rest of the story is???? Your question is unclear and I am not following if you are accused of sending him a zillion messages or there was some unfounded accusation that he received a zillion messages from you. If there was a true plan of marriage et al, then NO WAY on earth would this be over in a text. What else happened?

If this is really all the information you can give, then why would you ever waste one more moment on this person? Sure, it is easier said than done; however if you have even a speck of respect for yourself, then you should easily see that ANYONE that treats you in this manner - has no right to your thoughts.

The truth of the matter is that you must ask yourself.. do I deserve better? If you hesitate or waver on the answer.. then maybe you do not.. BUT just look at the situation - honestly and then look ahead.

    WOW!

    I wish you well!
I certinaly sympathize w/you over your whole situation. He certainly was NOT the person you were lead to believe he was. That I'm sure of! Had he been, you certainly wouldn't have made all the plans w/him for your future w/him %26amp; only him. No doubt about it that he's a gutless user. Also, why in the world would he make up the lies of the messages %26amp; calls he received from you that he knew you had to have known were utterly not true. It almost sounds like something happened to his mind for him to carry on like he has!!!

The only encouragement I can give you is that you found out in time just what kind of a person he really is. Also the fact that you are far too good for him. No doubt about your heart being broken to pieces. Now you have to accept the fact that it's over %26amp; that you have to put the past in the past %26amp; start a new beginning. I KNOW you can do it. Of course it won't happen over nite, but your hurt w/no doubt turn to bitterness. Which in a way w/just be helpful to you. Please have NO contact w/him whatsoever. Don't let him say another word to you, God only knows he's said enuf already. I've found when one door closes another one opens AND that regardless if we ever know the reason why, things DO happen for a reason. Hang in there the best way you know how. You need the help %26amp; support of your friends now, that's what good friends are for. I'm sure you'd be there for any one of them, let them be there for you. You're going to go thru a lot of emotions w/this, cry when you feel you need to, get mad when you feel the need %26amp; do whatever makes you feel best at any given time. Do KNOW you'll be OK %26amp; that some day Mr. Right is going to come along for you. When it happens you'll surely know. You'll also know the difference of it as apposed to being used as you have been. Hang in there, %26amp; I certainally do wish you all the best. You too w/get what/who you deserve. Your's w/be all good tho!

Advice for getting over a breakup? What are your words of inspiration or positive thoughts?

I am going through a breakup, which is always difficult. After a year of being together my seemingly amazing boyfriend decided that he wanted to party non-stop with his friends and ignore me for a 1 month period.

We were both going through transition phase in life, I wanted to go through it with him and he wanted to go through it without me. I told him several times that his actions were hurtful but to no avail.

I had to breakup with him because he seemed unwilling to change or even think he was doing anything wrong. things have spiraled out of control and he goes from being really mean and blaming me to crying and saying sorry every other day. I think contact has finally ceased.

I have no interest in getting back with him as I have seen that he is not such a great person after all and do not want that in my life.

what gets you through it? what thoughts are comforting to you and keep you strong?Advice for getting over a breakup? What are your words of inspiration or positive thoughts?
I really, really feel for you. I recently went through the end of my 3 year relationship with a man I loved.

    The advice I can offer:

    1. Keep busy - tidy, organise, make!

    2. Arrange things with your friends. As many things as possible!

    3. Exercise. This is a brilliant one, you look great you feel great, and you don't think about them while you're doing it. Do something new, it'll be your new thing, and it's all yours, nothing to do with him! I swim.

    4. Eat! I am sure you don't feel like eating, but please keep doing it!

Love. Lots of it. It'll get better. Keep going! And stay strong. No contact is the way to go...trust me!Advice for getting over a breakup? What are your words of inspiration or positive thoughts?
I just went through almost the exact scenerio. It's tough. He still wants to talk and his emotions are all over the place, but you just need to keep thinking that you deserve better. I know I do. Someone who really loves you, will stick by you through the tough times as well. I've been keeping myself really busy with family and friends. I've also been distracting myself with work. I deleted his number from my phone and avoid his calls at all costs. The calls are finally stopping and I am feeling better. I'm sure you're feeling bad for him and wanting to help him, but that will only make things work. Best thing to do is stop taking his calls and distract yourself with as many other people as possible.

Hi all, I need your advice tonight, My bf thinks racial slurs are ';words of empowerment,'; Where do I start?

I am multiracial and he isn't. He has never experienced racism. My family and I have been traumatized lifelong by racist remarks, so it is a sensitive area for me. Everyone is different - and I understand his perspective - but he doesn't understand mine. Without a feeling of safety, people in relationships cannot connect. He is losing me, I've told him this - but he doesn't understand why. Do you have any advice on how to explain this to him better? He is a great guy in many other ways and I don't want to lose him - but without trust and respect in a relationship, there can be no love.

What would you say to him if you were me?Hi all, I need your advice tonight, My bf thinks racial slurs are ';words of empowerment,'; Where do I start?
    ';Goodbye';

Forget this guy. You can't change this guy's thoughts. Just wait until he humiliates you by using racial epithets in front of your friends, family, or coworkers....maybe an employer. Move on -

No. Wait. Run!Hi all, I need your advice tonight, My bf thinks racial slurs are ';words of empowerment,'; Where do I start?
I want to thank each and everyone of you who answered my question - all of you helped me figure this out and get to the truth of what I needed to do.

    Thanks much!

You can sit him down and straight up explain how you feel. Don't be too overpowering because he doesn't understand, like you stated. Try to explain, fully, what you and your family has gone through and how it makes you feel when he maks remarks. Try to have him invision what it'd be like to be in your shoes and see how he reacts.

    Best of luck, love!
First show him this answer. I am a true beleiver in not mixing races, I am a black man 43 years old and 12 years happily married. The reason i feel the way I do about mixed relationships is the fact that sooner or later someone is going to throw race cards at the other and that will never work. Thats my opinion and I do know couples that have proven me wrong, are you and yours going to be one of them, besides, only those closest to you know the words that hurt worse than bullets.
I would find slurs that apply to him, and use them relentlessly until he gets the message. There's a negative label for everyone if you look hard enough. Terrible, but true. But be warned, this may change his behavior, but it won't likely change his heart. Good luck.
Ask if he likes being called a fag, fairy or queer and let him know that it is the same thing he is doing to others and that it is not right to stereotype others he knows nothing about.
I think you should really consider a new bf...however you've alread said you want to keep him...soo...racial slurrs are not empowering they are a profound example of ignorance and intollerrence...he needs to do do a LOT of growing up!
Tell him he can call you racist names , but is never allowed to use them about others .
    U mean he says, ';What's up *****';

    It's a term of endearment

Some advices on my situation, please ? need a true word of hope .. !!?

it's been 2 years ago ... I did a lot of effort to save that relationship as this was someone I really care .... after the break up , it causes me a lot of pain ..I even get mentally and psychological affected not because really because of her loss, but more because of the sacrifice I was trying to do for that to work , it failed anymore like a stack of card .... wasting all my time, my mental ressources and energy ... you know, I would like to forget, I hate her now, she doesn't mean anything to me ...but I still cannot get rid of my mental pain ... I really hated my myself for what I did for her, she didn't worth that, it's only after the relationship I understood that .. I think she will always get stuck in my mind until my pain subsides..I've seen psychologist and doctors, to help me relieve from my mistakes of my life ...but, I seem to still be paying the consequence of my past foly, because, I was madly in love ... I'm suffering but it seems to be something that I have to keep for me, I wouldn't want to continue to talk about that still after 2 years ... but, it's more the mental pain that cannot subsides, I'm really traumatized to have lived such a contradiction of strong loves and strong contradictions in a relationship ... I'd like to heal, to forget about the past, to continue move on with my life, without having to think about what happened to the past ...!! what can you advise me , please ? I need some advices ...!! I need your help ..!!Some advices on my situation, please ? need a true word of hope .. !!?
It can always be worse. You have to realize that dwelling on the past will not only make you upset, but it won't change anything. What use is worrying?

There are so many ignorant people in the world who take so much toll on people's lives who don't deserve it. Find the power within you to be strong and move on with your life with a fresh essence of today. The present is now. The past only exists from memory. Nothing changes the past. Do not cause yourself grief over such a thing when there are so many people out there who have so much to offer to people like you. And you can't hold back because of the past. Realize that today is only worth changing and that you can't waste time with emotional pain. Think about tomorrow. Believe in yourself no matter what and do not let ANYONE ever dictate your emotions. You are giving them control that they don't have. You have potential - don't lose that in yourself.

I wish you the best of luck. Some advices on my situation, please ? need a true word of hope .. !!?
first of all, you were madly in love with the girl. love blinds the best of us, it did to me too. i did everything for a girl too, i spent almost 1,000 just to talk to her while she was in greece. i put so much into that relationship, but we broke up in a terrible way. you need to realize that she didn't appreciate you the way you did her, she didn't feel for you the way you did her. none of this is your fault.

we are all humans, we make mistakes, all we can do is learn and move on from them. your still hurt because you still let her hurt you even though you don't speak.love is a hard thing to get over.

just find a way to get her completely off your mind, i find running a great thing to do. i started almost 2 years ago, i ran a marathon 2 months ago, this all fuels off the hate i have for my ex.

you can accomplish great things with that hurt and hate for her, just find that channel to release it.

Words of wisdom, can any one give me good advice?

First of all change that attitude! Guys can smell that a mile away and will run! If you are self-assured and confident that youarea total package, you will radiate that to everyojne else. And you will inevitably attract men, men you want. And quit trying to continually please the guys, have a backbone and make them work a little too. Guys don't respect a total mushbag pushover. Pull it together, remember why you are special/unique/wild and share it with the world girl!Words of wisdom, can any one give me good advice?
Honey, let me tell you, dont worry, one day when he is ready for you to have your dream guy, you wont even know it, just hangin there, and dont feel bad if your friends are getting married! OK, now SMILE! =)
i can relate to you all the way.

you are not the only one.beleive me.

i was with my ex for 6 years..

then he just wanted to move on..

i feel like i was a horrible girlfriend..

but you have to remember its not always you its the other person.

and you (and me) are still very young we have alot of time..even though are friends seem to be going pretty fast.

beleive me all my friends are ethier married, have babies or in serious relationship and im the only one who doest have anyone.

i feel like crap about it..but i have to keep reminding myself that i am waiting for that special someone because id rather wait and be happy later with the person im meant to be with.

GOD knows who we should be with..and i guess its just not our time yet...we or are soul mates arent ready to be together just yet..

soo we my as well go have fun and be single while it last right?? because before we know it we will have someone that will love and appreciate us the way we should be.

there is nothing wrong with you.

Benefits of sword training. Any words and advice would be appreciated. Senseis and sifu's most welcome.?

I apoligize if I mispelled abit.

A few days ago I started taken up Kendo sword training. Not for kendo really itself but I've always read and heard from many people including some instructors weapons training was very beneficial for focus and even physcial qualities.

Now what I train in is Tae-kwon-do and Gracie Jiu-jit-su.

I couldn't really get into the ';Bo'; staff for some reason but was determined to try some weapons training still so I decided to take up the sword, I train with the heavy wooden sword ';suburito';. So far just sticking with simple repitions of strikes such half-cut, full-cut and diagniol from left and right, exchanging master hand each time. Over time I will add more strikes and increase my time per session with the sword as my body adjust and becomes more accustomed to it.

So far I'm really enjoying it and I've already noticed some benefits from the training.

My question is what are the over-all benefits and what tips or suggestions for training can you give me so that I may gain more from this?

Also does anyone know about the variation of the ';suburito'; that seems to be shaped like a four-inch by four-inch square piece of lumber (this suppose to be heavier and swings with more wind-resistance, creating a real challenge). If so where might I purchase this? so when I've grown more accusomed to what I'm using now I can use it instead or interchangably.Benefits of sword training. Any words and advice would be appreciated. Senseis and sifu's most welcome.?
Lose the suburito for now, Find a Teacher, and train with a bokken. Once you have a more firm grip on the aspects of sword handling move forward to the suburito. You don't start bowling or baseball with the heaviest ball or bat. Study the movements before you try to learn power. Even power is useless without control and focus. If you are truely seeking a mental focus training, you will be willing to progress at a pace that will take you further. Long journey... many steps....blah blah blah. I'm sure you've heard this all so I will not repeat the cliches, except to say that it's true. Once you learn how to properly cut, not hack, then you can concentrate on strengthening yourself. I will admit, It took me years of training before I could make a cut with 100% speed and strength and still check the swing with no waver in the arc or blade. It is a stength you need to develop in your arms, wrist, hips, lower back and shoulders.

Also, I would avoid the lumber/sword plan, because one aspect you need to concentrate on is blade angle. If you are just looking for weight, get a baseball bat with one of those donut weight rings, but that won't teach you form, as one of the most important things is maintaining the direction of your cutting edge. I know you said you weren't looking for ';defense'; but then you talk about a ';smooth or proper strike';. What gives? Do not pick and chose or you are just some guy with a sword (or stick).

    Good Luck

Peace on your Path.Benefits of sword training. Any words and advice would be appreciated. Senseis and sifu's most welcome.?
Some of the physical benefits I got from Suburi training were a more powerful grip, better coordination especially when it comes to footwork, better depth perception and sense of timing and rhythm. It also helped develop proper Tai Sabaki and trains you better in using your hips more to generate power. And most of all, proper breathing techniques, it's not easy swinging the bokken when you're holding your breath(a big no no), so you learn to control your breathing and time it with your strikes and movements.
One of the advantages of training with a sword is that it forces you to work on your meditative focus. Not the initial learning of the strikes by repetition but the actual process of learning to cut with it. In order to cut, you must be paying attention. Without focussing your attention, you cannot cut. So practicing your cut is an excellent way to practice the focus aspect of meditation....which is the foundation of ALL martial arts power. In other words, how strong you are martially is a DIRECT result of your ability to focus. But how do you know what it feels like to focus. How do you know when you are actually doing it and succeeding. Or if you are just fooling yourself.

The cut will show you this very clearly. Buy a REAL sword. This is relatively easy to do, for not much money, these days. Cold Steel makes a number of good ones (warning....these are WEAPONS....not showpieces or toys). If you **** around with one, it WILL sheer someone's arm off. Treat them with RESPECT.

Then, collect a bunch of empty soda bottles and fill them with water. Place them on a stand and practice your strikes....but for real now. Haha...you thought you were doing them correctly. But it didn't work...did it. Don't worry. After hours of doing this you will start to feel what focus is like. Then you will succeed in a cut. Then, with many hours of practice you will be able to hold focus every time. You will notice your practice without the bottles is completely different now. Those strikes are real, even though they are with a wooden sword (which is an actual weapon, I might add....not a practice toy). Were you to hit someone with the wooden sword, using focus, it would seriously injure, maybe even kill them.

Several noted sword masters ONLY used wooden swords, by the way. The weapon isn't the sword. It's the focus.
I highly doubt you'll need sword training if you plan on using it for self defense. Carrying a sword around is quite dangerous, and you'll be very suspicious looking. The only real benefit you'd get out of sword training is perhaps knowing how to swing a stick slightly better.

I honestly would not suggest you training in sword fighting of any sorts unless you want to do it for fun, sport or recreation... Or unless you want to be a sword choreographer for movies.

    :)
